Water Baptism- by IMMERSION

  • Baptism in the water is a type of being buried with Christ and being raised again to "walk in newness of life" - Rom.6:4-6 / Col. 2:12

  • Candidates for Water Baptism must:

    • Be born again and give a clear testimony of sincere faith in the Lord Jesus Christ - Acts 8:36,37

    • Be living a consistent Christian life, and separated from heathen customs.

    • Have successfully completed the New Converts Course.

    • Be at least Ten Years of age

  • We do not baptise infants because we believe candidates for baptism must give a clear testimony of sincere faith in Christ

  • Baptism is administered by immersing the candidate in water, " in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost " - Acts 8:38 / Matt. 28:19

The Lord's Supper- (HOLY COMMUNION)

  • This ordinance was instituted by our Lord, to be practised in the church in remembrance of Him until His return - Matt. 26:26-30 / I Cor. 11:23-31

The elements, " Bread" and " Cup, " represent the " Body " and " Blood " of Christ.

  • His body was broken when he was beaten and crucified, and he carried our sins and our sickness to the Cross that we might be forgiven and healed - 1 Cor. 11:24 / 1 Peter 2:24

  • The shed blood established the New Covenant, which is the divine promise of eternal life - 1 Cor. 11:25

  • It is the privilege of every born-again believer to partake of the Lord's Supper, for it represents our parking of His divine nature - John 6:53-56

  • The believer must first examine himself before God, lest he should partake unworthily- 1 Cor. 11:28

  • The believer who feels a sense of unworthiness should seek the Lord in humble contrition and renew his consecration of God, and then partake with the brethren of the church. Thus the Lord's Supper will always be the means of maintaining the spirituality and fellowship in the church - 1 John 2:1,2

MARRIAGES

  • The marriage of a man to one wife was instituted by God - Gen. 2:18 and conformed by Christ - Matt. 19:5,6

  • Marriage is honourable and is well-pleasing to God when it is entered into with all sincerity and in harmony with God's plan for mankind - Prov. 18:22 / Heb. 13:4

  • Although polygamy was practised in the Old Testament, there is no example of such in the New Testament. The New Testament standard for marriage is so high that we beleive it should only be terminated by the death of either the husband or the wife - Matt. 19:9

  • The Christian customs of taking the marriage vows before a minister of the Gospel is in humble recognition of the need of divine approval of the union of two lives and of God's lessing upon the home to be established.
